Although World Blood Donors Day is on the 14th June and i’m a few weeks late but blood campaigns are still going on and donation center are always open, i would like to take this opportunity to invite you to donate blood!*
*if you’re at least 17-years-old and in good general health .
it’s been 3 years since my first blood donation and about a year ago i’ve received a call from the blood donation center to come to the clinic as soon as i could because the blood bank was experiencing Blood type A shortage and of there was a little girl who was in need of my blood type.
Thankfully, the little girl is still alive and well as we speak and to this day the parents are still in contact with me to check if i’m fine & well.
Because of the situation, it has made me realized one reason why i frequently donate blood and encourage others to do the same, Blood donation does saves lives.
John 15:13 "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends."
As Christians, we are called to offer ourselves, either it be our time, money, effort and gifts. This apply as much as the blood streaming down our veins. To many of us, we have taken this blessing for granted while some others are in need of this and it is up to us to donate blood and save lives.
John 13:15 Christ said: "I have set you an example so that you should do as I have done for you." 1 John 2:6 "Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked."
The blood of Jesus Christ gives us eternal life, our blood (donated blood) also gives life…… physical life that is. So just like Christ who shed his blood for us so we too should shed (donate) our blood to save lives.
To those who are waiting for a sign or an oppurtunity to donate blood, this is it. Donate blood!
To those who are illegible to donate blood, don’t be discouraged. Instead, tell others who are eligible to donate blood.
To those who have donated blood, i would like to say THANK YOU! thank you for giving time and effort to donate blood for the greater good, your work will not go in vain.
